If someone asked you to tell them your dream lifestyle, what would you answer?
I’ll start off by telling you mine; I dream of living in a warm climate (Portugal) and being able to spend at least a month every year in New York.
There, not much to ask is it? Well, I don’t think it is. I don’t want a big house or a fancy car and I don’t want to shop for clothes or the latest gadgets. My wants outside of those two things are so basic, that it’s really possible for me to live my dream, and you can too.

My current desire is to sleep, but that’s only b/c Pumpkin is teething and was up for quite a while in the middle of the night. For a more long term dream I want to have (and by have I ‘think’ that means own) a home in a safe neighborhood of nyc that doesn’t stretch us so thin financially the first several years that we can’t attend family events and friends’ weddings. If said home could have enough space for my sewing table and Pumpkin to have her own room – glory!
While I’m excited by your book recommendation, no need to spend the $$ on overseas postage if I actually win (which seems slim as I’m not sure I’ve ever won anything online except a bag of freebies from Oprah magazine where the entire contents of the bag was covered in the salad dressing that was part of the prize…).

That is a great book. It was one of my inspirations for setting our mortgage-free lifestyle goal. I don’t need the copy, but I’ll share our dream lifestyle anyway…
Right now, we want to eventually find a quiet little cabin in the woods, surrounded by acres and acres of land on all sides, with only moose, deer, and squirrels as our neighbors. We’ll strive to live sustainably, harvesting deadwood for our fuel, and generating our own electricity through wind and solar. We’d also like to try to grow as much of our food as we can. I’d also like to live a lifestyle as free of engines and motors as possible. I want to see what’s possible through human power alone.

Hehe…that will be a great prize for someone – it’s a fantastic book.
My dream? Hmm…the details change, but to spend a good chunk of the year outside of UK would be a good start.
I’m working on it!

I missed the deadline, but I’ll play along anyways. (I already own the book, since it was so highly recommended here!)
My dream is to live on the Central Coast in California, near the beach. We don’t have to be on the beach, but able to get to the beach within minutes. I’d like to have a nice, comfortable house that is already “done” so that we don’t have to spend every weekend minute fixing something, painting something,…

{i missed the deadline too, but i need to type out my dream lifestyle today for good measure}
my dream life would consist of not spending so much time focusing on chasing after the dollar & spending more time helping others. i would love to be able to live in an old house with character on a good chunk of land. i would have my own garden to grow some of my own food. i would love to have this space in what we call in North Carolina “God’s country”… the rolling hills just outside the NC mountains are absolutely breathtaking.
my dream lifestyle would consist of a part time job at a small specilized store. i would love to have a mix of a local hardware/outdoor/fun little boutique type shop… i know that’s a crazy mix. i would love to be able to spend the rest of my time volunteering, outdoors, & just spending quality time with family & friends, and being able to have plenty of time to be physically active to keep my body healthy.
ohhhh the dream life

Ooh–great question! For me, my dream lifestyle involves being my own boss (I’ve has enough mean bosses for three lifetimes, thank you!) and having easy access both to the action of a city and the peace of the outdoors. Come to think of it, living where we do (San Francisco) has brought us pretty close to living our dream! Now if I could just work up the courage to make my personal ‘passion projects’ pay the bills!

I would love to live on a nice ‘boat’ with my dh and kids and just sail ‘around the world’ to be honest.. not have to work, no “materialistic” worries or duties, etc..

I have the book already but I needed to join in. Pay off all mydebt/mortgage and retire little early. Travel between my homes in line with the season and whats going on in the world. Have my children in the same house as me for at least some part of the year.

Despites my life changed 360º, my dream remains the same and I´m not quitting
I´d love to live in a small countryhome in Algarve (not too much isolated) with a small piece of land around it so I could plant my own vegetables and herbs.
Peace of mind, debt free and frugal living would be handy too.
I wouldn´t mind reading this book…
Cheers! xx

Good question!
I’m afraid mine’s more vague than most of these here. My dream lifestyle is all about having the time to slow down and enjoy this fragile little thing called life. It’s about having the freedom to have a purpose, to do something that I am good at, am proud of, without worrying about how I’m going to pay the bills. And you know me, I’d like to travel too.
Where I am permanently doesn’t feature so much, I could live my dream in so many places around the world. As long as the other half is there with me, and I can see my friends and family often, then I’m happy.

My dream would be to have a house on the lake where I can wake up in the morning and go fishing, come back in the afternoon and go skiing. I would have a great outdoor space where I could relax and read a good book. That would be my dream.
