It’s a real cliché but tomorrow really is another day and if like me your progress towards your goals is not going quite to plan, then you must pick yourself up and start again the next morning.
My diet, is a disaster. I’ve been eating the right things at meal times; it’s the in between times that are the problem!
I’ve given myself a little talking too, set out my meal plan for the day {keeping a food diary really helps}, and I’m moving forward.
Fruit is the order of the day!
It doesn’t matter what your goal is, it could be losing weight or paying off debt, whatever it is; it’s the constant re-commitment that will get you there in the end.
What do you do to recommit to your goals?
PS. I’ve changed the layout of the blog a little and had a little tidy up. If you’re reading this in your inbox or reader then please take a look at the site and let me know what you think; I’d love some feedback, good or bad, as I’d like to improve things. Oh and another thing {sorry I’m demanding today!} don’t forget to enter my book giveaway it closes midnight Monday 14th June {GMT}

Yep, quite a lot of damage can be done in between meals. I think we do need to “light a fire” under ourselves from time to time (at least I do). Fruit is good. I’ve been amazed how keeping my diet *simple* has helped me to easily lose weight (currently 12’0 down from 12’11) in just a few months (see http://www.regardsfromthebalcony.com/2010/05/losing-weight-with-a-simple-diet.html for details). I’m now training myself to eat smaller portions – especially in the evening – that seems to be making a big difference. It seems to be having other benefits such as sleeping better, and less vulnerable to flu and colds (my g/f recently had flu, but I didn’t get it). I think it’s putting less strain on my digestive system. Well, good luck with your diet – hope it goes well!

Hi Tony, it’s not the meals that are my problem; I don’t really eat large ones..it’s the blooming in between stuff…bread is my worst downfall! Your doing so well; inspiring..I’ve not seen 12 stone since the last World Cup, lol!!

I agree! I think the fact that it’s the start of the week always helps, psychology it’s a booster to me to be able to “start afresh” with a new day, new week etc…of course if I blow it on a Monday it’s even harder to start over on Tuesday, so…!
I’m sorry I don’t have anything more constructive to say than that :p
I think trying not to set standards too high is a good idea too, I am really bad at wanting to do everything perfect all at once and if it’s not all right all the time then I might aswell give up all together…I am working on baby-steps and having a “minimum” goal (i.e. eat my 5-a-day, regardless of what else I eat on top of that. Then I can build on that the next day, and so on and so on…)
Good luck! xxx
ps the site looks good

Hi Rachel, I’m afraid I do that, the setting the bar too high! It never helps…thank you for your support

The diet thing is a constant battle, isn’t it? My sympathies. Site looks fine, Laura (though as I always read from a reader, I can’t remember what it looked like before, sorry!) x

one thing that helps me “munch smart” in between meals is to only have healthy snacks in the house. i mean if there are cookies, i will eat cookies but if there are only celery sticks and carrots, then i eat veggies.
i have recently fallen off my spending hiatus….and totally justifed everything i purchased. i just need to pick myself back up and get back on track….again!

Shoot, I was hoping by the title of your post that you were spending more!
What worked for me re. diet and was really quite painless was having no breakfast, a fairly large lunch and a large snack at around 4 p.m. every day. When I got home, I rarely felt like eating. I still don’t eat in the morning, but have been snacking at night. Which reminds me that I should get back on that schedule…

Hi Jenny and thanks for stopping by…yes, it really helps not to have treats in the house…at all!
@SMRM, oh no, not spending, eating!! Now if I could control my eating like I control my spending {when I really want to win a challenge, lol} then I’d be set!!

I love the concept of “it’s the constant re-commitment that will get you there in the end” – it’s a great mantra to adopt for those days when you feel like you are wading through treacle, and a very useful attitude to adopt when ploughing through the red-tape associated with moving to Portugal
