I have "donated" several things to people in my community and feel that the items are sometimes not used/sold at charity shops because the right buyer doesn't happen to find them. Maybe I just have some unusual items? I help charities also, but if I have some left over wool fleece that needs to find a spinner, I'm not going to donate it to a charity--they may throw it out not recognize it or put it into plastic(where it may felt into an unusable blob). I also like the idea of sharing with my community. I have gotten fruit from their trees- etc. It is a wonderful way to feel closer to others in an age when neighbors don't have the time to get to know each other.
