Things I’m working on this week: Health

May 16, 2011

in getting healthy

I’ve been feeling far too negative of late and most of it has been caused by bad food choices and bad sleeping habits. Eating rubbish effects my sleep and then tiredness effects my eating; it’s a vicious circle. Not this week though. Monday morning is a great time to regroup, set a few mini goals and generally start your week in the right frame of mind. So here goes; seven days of healthy choices……hopefully!

I will -

  • Sleep for 7 hours every day
  • Drink 5 large glasses of water every day
  • Get active every day
  • Eat 5 portions of fruit  & veg every day

Anyone care to join me?

Great idea. Sometimes I forget food is fuel and not just for pleasure. Water and the right food always makes me feel better.

@Niki me too…perhaps we should change its name to fuel, not food!

Great goals!! :) The only thing I need to work on is drinking all my water… I’m bad with that! So I’ll work on adding 6 glasses of water a day! Good luck!!

The hardest for me is getting enough sleep. I get up at 5:45am and stay up most nights til 11pm so that’s not quite 7 hours. I think I’ll try getting to bed earlier this week!

Jane: me too. I get up like clockwork at 6am…it’s the getting to sleep before 11pm that’s the problem.

I’m in Laura! I’ve been slacking on the water consumption lately. I also want to try and eat more veggies. I never have a problem eating two fruits each day, but sometimes I only eat one vegetable.

On the upside, I’ve been doing a decent job being active now that the weather is cooperating (although it’s in the 40s in Columbus, OH today!), and I almost always get enough sleep. :)

Thanks for some mini-health goals to focus on this week!

@Jenny I’m the opposite I’m good with veggies and bad at eating fruit. My day planner has a water tick list on it so I have no excuse for forgetting to drink it..I need to keep that planner front and centre all day!

Hi,
I’ve been following (& enjoying) your blog for a little while now and am going to de-lurk today. :-) I am with you on this one! This week I will decrease my portions, fill up on fruits and veg, and walk to work at least 3 days this week (it’s 4 1/2 miles roundtrip).

Cheers to a healthy week!

I need to work on these things myself! I am going to try to cut back my sugar as well! I even did 15 minutes on the treadmill this morning!
