Storecupboard challenges…

in frugal living

Hi everybody, I hope you all had a lovely time this week, I certainly did, however I’m currently resisting the urge to take down all the cards, I know, probably a little soon, but the clutter clearer in me is hard to control!?

One of the best things about December is that I’ve stuck to my grocery budget, I’ve not got the exact final figure but its under £200, so I’m really pleased. Now I want to get to my next payday by spending as little as possible. I’m setting a budget of £100 for the next 4 weeks and planning on using up all the contents of my freezer. Minimising eating is always high on every one’s agenda after the Christmas festivities, so I’m going to use this to my advantage.

You want to take down your cards? I only got mine up a couple of days before Christmas so they’re staying for the duration :)

We’ll be doing a lot of freezing living during January too although there are still a few special meals planned during twixmas and for New Years Eve.

My Christmas stuff is coming down tomorrow. It’s time to move on! Good for you on sticking to your budget. We did the freezer/pantry cleanout this fall and we really knocked our food bill down for a couple months! We only bought milk, bread, eggs, and a minimum of fresh vegies. Good luck and Happy New Year!!!

Always a good idea to eat the freezer food. Things get lost so easily in there and turn in to icicles. Good luck with your plan!

You’re so right, now is the time to have a proper clear-out! I’m going to have a proper “spring” clean of my pantry and freezer when I get home and I’m NOT going to re-stock with anything but healthy stuff….(well, that’s the plan…!)

I gave myself a similar challenge in December and it went really well. I totally surprised myself – it’s amazing what you can make with very little when you put your mind to it!
