Just to let you know that I’ve added a projects page to this site. Occasionally the planner in me is sent crazy by the uncertainty of next year and how it will all pan out with move etc, so I do my best to keep focused on today and not think about it; having a big list of things to be getting on with really helps!
The list of projects will be fluid as I plan to keep adding stuff as I go along.
Do you have a list of projects that you’re working on?

My lists for this week are long..projects as you say. I like your project page. I LOVE that you know where you are going to retire to…I wish I knew. Sigh.

Sharon| Are you planning on staying in an area nearby to your current location?

Oh Lord, I’m afraid to make my projects page. I’ll have to get around to it sometime but I figure I still have another full year before I need to start fixing this place up to sell. I’m not procrastinating (well, maybe a little) but want the updates I make to be as new as possible when I list my condo AND I would prefer to start the process AFTER my daughter has left home and hopefully by then our cat will have moved on to greener pastures (the cat is 17 – I never expected she’d live this long – does this make me a bad person??)

No Jane not too bad
It makes sense for you to wait, we just want to be 95% ready by the end of this year…although with the extra work we keep finding I’m not so sure that we will be.

Niki| It’s nice to have a list of things without deadlines!

I mentally made the decision that I’ll be happy if the house sells as planned – and I’ll be happy if it doesn’t. The right time will come and I’ll just go with it. We can only focus on what we can control, and what we can control is what we do today. The market, jobs, all that stuff is out of our control (to a certain extent), so why bother thinking about it? Although it is kind of annoying to not feel that angst of “I am not happy with things as they are” because it can be a good push to change things but if it makes you unhappy or causes stress of any kind then it’s not worth it.

Jacq| I find about 95% of the whole moving abroad project fun..so can easily live with the 5% of non fun! I’m hoping that renting out our house will be easier than trying to sell it..fingers crossed.
When do you hope to put your house on the market?

I have a daily “to do” list, but a long standing project list would be good too… “someday” projects instead of “today” projects.

Yes! I have a few project ideas for this year (learning to do a bit of sewing, doing some writing etc) but it’s all on the back burner until we get our home on the market. Am completely failing at getting the work done though

My list is a mile long. Most of the current projects revolve around fixing my mom’s home as it’s in dire straits.
Due to the lack of time on the weekends, things end up literally taking 5-10 times longer than I expect them to, but slowly but surely we are making progress.
By the way, I chuckled at “make decent cake”

We’re finding that the house jobs list gets longer instead of shorter..pleasure of owning an old house I suppose! Hopefully you’ll finish Babci’s house soon.
If you could see my cakes Sandy you would be chuckling…it’s embarrassing. Cake making should be a science but I never was very good a science
