There’s an excellent article in the guardian today about precycling, cutting out the packaging in the first place -
”Precycling is the practice of reducing waste by attempting to avoid accumulating it in the first place. Precyclers try to cut out as much packaging as possible and, to this end, they think ahead, shop locally, buy things loose and bring their own containers. The benefits are various; from saving money and creating less landfill to reducing food miles and conserving natural resources.”

Hi there-I’m getting there, LOL!! I use my recycling box regularly and I take preused carrier bags for my groceries every week too.

I went in Sports World a while back and bought something small (some socks, I think). At the checkout I said I didn’t need a bag but was told that I couldn’t take the items out of the shop without one of their bags as it wasn’t against the company rules. When I questioned this the girl said she didn’t know why but guessed it was because security would think I was stealing them. How behind the times are they? Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed!

It’s a great term to inhabit. But hard to do in the US. Since we are packaging happy freaks. lol!
But, I do take a concious part by packing my lunch in tupperware, bringing my own washable silverware, and use a washable sports water bottle.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

That’s an added advantage to trying to eat healthy and frugal at the same time – most of the food doesn’t have much in the form of packaging.
