Oh Laura, it is soooo beautiful! Wow!!! Boy do I need the sun. I feel like I have scurvy, which I know has nothing to do with the sun

Ahh..I see you had a good time visiting Vale Tejo and Óbidos region. Óbidos is such a cute little village. And you´re right, sea water in that region is so cold!
Much, much better here in Algarve
I think you´re doing well in looking around our country before you decide where to move but if you like city and littoral there´s 3 options to check: Porto, Lisbon and Faro.
The cost of living (and properties) in Porto region is the less expensive of the 3 but the downturn is the weather, colder & rainy.
Lisbon, as capital, is for sure the most expensive and polluted of the 3, specially in the city. If you look around, in the interior, Vale Tejo region has some nice, less expensive villages worth checking.
Faro, you know the trend, tourism in summer and too calm in winter. Prices vary, “barlavento” is more expensive than “sotavento”. The best about Algarve is really the sunny weather, beaches, seafood, lower prices in winter and being close to Spain.
Whatever place you pick, my country is a great place to live!
Hugs xx
