October 2011 Mini Goals

September 29, 2011

in goals

Here we go then.  Month ten of 2011.  I’ve got a theme for this month and it’s to simplify.  Everything. Things have got a little busy and so I might just retreat under a blanket…….dual purpose really as this will help us to keep the heating in the off position for as long as possible too…..aren’t we all doing that with the cost of heating these days!?

Anyway I only have one goal that’s not financial for this month and that’s to finish the back bedroom. Every thing else can wait….I’m keeping it simple ;)

My financial goals for October:

  • Overpay the mortgage by at least £700
  • Keep grocery spending below £240
  • Keep miscellaneous spending below £100
  • Make £300 in extra income
Let me know, what goals are you setting this month?

Good luck with the back bedroom! I need to get caught up on my sewing for “others”, so I can work on my own stuff again, as Christmas is on the way & I have lots of gifts to make!

I am loving getting a peek into your home. You have a great minimalistic approach and I am really starting to strive for that. More than usual. Plus your home has wonderful architectural detail.

Thanks Niki – one thing I will miss about Portugal is Victorian houses – although I’d love to downsize I do love our house and it’s details (and quirks!)
I do think you can do minimalist without looking stark – which I would find awful.
Less is more becomes addictive!

Exercising in the morning also lets me delay putting the heat on (sad isn’t it?) Looking forward to seeing the big reveal when it’s all done!

I need some new financial goals. I’m so due for a little where am I analysis. I’ve just been letting myself buy the things I’ve been putting off and needing and I’m finally almost there where I have everything I need again..although I’m still on the search for a comfortable pair of walking shoes…but then I should be done and we can start saving for the move to the beach fund.

I’m exactly the same – buying stuff that I’ve put off for so long (we’re even going to get new couches – in the sale though!).

‘move to the beach’ I need to hear more about this? :)

Right now I’m under 2 afghans keeping warm lol! I’m going to try to make it to the end of October without turning on the furnace! Hopefully the weather (and other residents of this household) will cooperate with me!
Goals? Keep on keepin’ on!

We’re having a mini heatwave here, which is really helping…can we last another 31 days with putting the heating on?
