October 2010 Mini Goals

October 1, 2010

in goals

Hello and welcome to the month of October; how fast did that happen?

First off , how did I do with my mini goals in September?

  • Take some exercise 20 out of 30 day:I managed to walk on 15 days, so a small fail on the goal, however I did get my diet back on track and lose another 6.5lbs. Yay!
  • Make £300+ in extra income: Completed. I made £314.11 from a combination of eBay sales, Amazon sales, interest, site income and cash back.
  • Re-edit and clean my wardrobe: Completed.
  • Finish my linen/laundry cupboard: Fail. I’m taking a little time to adjust to my working hours and so this job is still not complete.

All in all this was a good month and I’m really pleased.

Onto my mini goals for October:

  • Lose 6lbs: I’m really hoping that setting a weight loss goal for the month will not have a negative effect like it usually does.  I’ve always known that sticking to a diet plan and paying off debt were very similar; it’s all about mindset. If your mind is in the right place then you can do it, and my mind is in the right place right now.  I really want this to happen.  I know,  and please excuse the drama lol, that this is the one thing that will complete my life turn around and so it needs to happen.
  • Stick to our holiday spending budget of £500: This month we get to complete one of our travel bucket list goals and visit Vancouver.  This is a tight budget, one I’m hoping that we can stick to.
  • Write a Christmas gift list: Getting organised with my future budget.
  • Read one book on investing: I’ve reserved a couple of books at the library so this depends on them coming in before the end of the month.

 That’s it.

I’d love to know what mini goals you have for this month.

Hi Laura
I have never really thought about investments as we tend to be more interested in property but i wouldnt mind some recommended reading if you find anything good. Loving the idea of Vancouver btw.

One of the first blogs I’ve come across that concentrate on goals and achievements. Interesting indeed. I have 3 Most NB to do’s every day (I’m an office girl) and this way I usually get them done.

One or two of my goals for October would be : Exercise 15 days (I’ve just started). Obviouslywith the intent to be healthy and lose weight, I don’tlose weight without exercise. So if I could lose 2-4 kilograms (what’s that? 4-8 punds? I like your 6 pounds version!). And I would like to have finished springcleaning my diningroom and my bedroom. It sounds small, I don’t have much time and would rather achieve what I say as I also study parttime evenings and work overtime first week of the month with deadlines an have 2 kids and hubbie to feed and look after…

You have a good month now, I’ll be back

:)

LG: Good luck this month LG and thank you for dropping by.

Like you I don’t lose weight without exercise so I need to prioritise this over other things [to do].

Congratulations on the weight loss last month Laura!

I have reached a plateau for the last couple of months, so I am re-inspired by your mini goals to make a goal of 2kilos ( about 4lbs) this month for me.

I have posted my mini goals for October on my blog.

Hi Laura

New reader but love your idea of mini goals, I think that seems much more achievable than starting the new year with a bunch of resolutions. Mine for October would be to walk regularly (which should be fairly simple as the weather is improving and we’ve just started daylight saving) and reduce my chocolate consumption!
I’d love to hear what you think of Vancouver as we’ll be heading there in June 2011 (part of our holiday to Canada/Alaska) – we land in Vancouver June 1 (funnily enough we leave Oz on the same date!) and are there for 4 days before we fly to Anchorage. Apart from Vancouver Island I really have no idea what we can do there so any tips will be gratefully accepted :)
Cheers
Judy
