As we’re almost a third of the way through the year I thought I’d do an update on my clothing challenge.
Well so far, so good. I’ve not really been tempted. I did have a little moment when we got the invite to our friends wedding reception, to me a wedding always means new clothes, but as it was only the evening do, it was a lot easier to wear something I already had. We do have another wedding in November, so I might need to get creative for that.
My main tactic so far has been avoiding the shops and keeping temptation out of the way. I do know though, if anything, it will be shoes that lead me down the naughty path. I have plans to get some work shoes reheeled this week, which should then give me no excuse to buy any new ones.

Wow, that is a tough one! I might beable to manage, but my children who grow an 1″ in a month… would never make it w/out buying clothes. Now buying clothes frugally or not at whole price… that might be a good challenge for me.

Hi Laura,
I just read your mail and replied it.
Thanks for caring!
About your post:
Last year I bought only 2 shorts and 3 t-shirts, nothing more. I had too many clothes forgoten in my closet.
Recently, I lost some weight and now my clothes are too big.
Last weekend , I had a shopping spree and bought 2 pairs of shoes, socks, one item of lingerie and one t-shirt. I think I will only buy a couple more t-shirts and that´s it.
I´m saving money for a summer vacation with Miriam that I´m planning for next year.
See you soon xx

Avoiding the shops and any kind of online shopping helps immeasurably. I am keen on doing the same, however post-pregnancy and change of seasons (with a lot of weight to lose) means I don´t think I will get away without buying anything new which is a pity. But I am too vain to wear clothes that are either too big or too small for long.
Having your shoes reheeled will feel like new shoes anyway! Good luck!

Good on you!
I’ve been going the other way and have bought almost a complete new wardrobe so far this year. I had to because I’ve gone up 2 dress sizes since last year and nothing fit me anymore (still have another 1/2 dress sizes to go so no doubt this little lot won’t fit me next year either). It’s almost all second-hand though, so I haven’t really been extravagent.
Well done, Laura, you’re going great guns. I’ve cut down hugely on clothes shopping this year, but couldn’t go completely cold turkey like you’re doing. Mind you, after this 10 days challenge malarkey, all your clothes’ll prob be too big for you!

Well done Laura – I’m in the same wedding quandry at the moment. Got one wedding to go to in a couple of weeks, and another in July and nothing to wear! Not even sure I’ve got any decent shoes. Trying to think of a frugal answer – rather than an expensive trip to Bluewater. Stumped. Any ideas?
