New Year De Clutter

January 3, 2008

in less is more

It never ceases to amaze me how much stuff children accumulate. It’s been a while since we did out their bedrooms, and they’ve had birthdays and Christmas since, but the amount of clutter they have amassed is amazing. We’ve finally got it all sorted, with a small amount of help from them, and we now have a car boot sale bag, a charity bag, a textiles/recycling bag and some things for Ebay. We also had a few items for Ebay so I’ll be listing all these at the week end.

I’ve sorted out my packaging cupboard, which was full, as I keep any jiffy bags, envelopes etc that I get through the post and then reuse them when I post things. I have loads of bubble wrap that came with my wedding list delivery so this will get used over the year. I don’t want to buy any stationery this year so I’m going to try and make do.

Finally I’ve sorted out all the linen. I’ve kept two sets of bedlinen for every bed and got rid of the rest. I don’t think we need twelve single duvet sets for three single beds!

I feel much better!

I had to laugh when I read this… I just finished a contract so I have the time to do a good old declutter. I am still sorting my linen out – although I managed to get rid of two actual duvets and about six pillows that I found in the airing cupboard. I’m still trying to work out where they came from!

I have quite a few books to get rid of and various sundry items. I think I’m going to wait for a car boot too – never done one before so that should be interesting!

have you tried Amazon for the books Tony, I find it really easy to do and you’ll probably get more money than at the car boot

Hi,
I don’t know if you’ve seen the game of tag on the blogs but I’ve tagged you on my blog.

It was nice to see you on MSE too, I occasionally lurk there too. I wish you good luck with your move, I love every minute of being here in France.

I moved the clutter – so sometime I will have to go through it!
In my defence, some of it had been at my ex’s and I hadn’t been able to get it, some was unsorted stuff from a shop I’d had and the rest was what I’d cleared from my father’s house and had to put straight into store as my house was on the market.

Bottom line though is that I’m a hoarder so keep putting off the day. Well done for getting yours sorted.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas,
Best wishes,
Deborah

I think I will have to use something like Amazon for the books…I have a lot of technical books (and DVDs) I want to get rid of…

Decluttering phase one (the house) now complete. Now got to venture out into the garage…oh dear, oh dear…
