Stage 10 of Making Our Home A Rental

March 24, 2011

in house projects

When we move to Portugal in 2012 we plan to rent out our house in the UK; stage 10 of turning our home into a rental property begins today.

Ok it may not be stage 10, it could be stage 110, but I wanted to give some structure to my posts on this subject :)

So today we’re having the two biggest windows in the house, the front bay and the front bedroom, replaced. I’d be lying if I said that I like the short term upheaval, but it’ll be worth it for us, and future renters, not to have a wind chill factor in the lounge!

When the job is complete there will only be some minor repair work to do and the blinds to re-hang; I’m hoping to keep the same window treatments to save money.

It feels good to be making progress.

I can’t think of a single thing that made my life more comfortable in the winter than windows that were not drafty and/or constantly rattling around in the wind. Not only is my house cozier, warmer but it’s also much quieter. You’ll love them. They will be well worth it.

@FirstGenAmerican Can’t wait…and hopefully they’ve added a small amount of value to the house ;)
