Health: I’m not sure what happened in May, the wheels came off the diet and the walking, not totally, but enough; on the plus side I did give up meat and limit my coffee intake.
I have a different mindset to health now and I don’t expect an overnight miracle, I just keep moving slowly in the right direction and gaining inspiration from here.
June mini goals are to lose 7lbs and walk 16/31 days.
Financials: Goals in May were to keep grocery spending down, which I did, so a tick there; book a hotel room and buy home contents insurance for less than £100 each, yes, £79 and £80, so another tick; save £300…um fail, increased our saving accounts by £141.
June mini goals are to keep grocery spending below £220 for the month and save £100 towards the NY fund. {I’ve added a progress bar to the side of the blog for the NY trip <—–}
House: I’m giving up telling myself to paint anything; last month I painted the pantry, when I wanted to paint the fence!
This month I will make some simple curtains, re pot my herbs and paint something…just not sure what yet!
Personal: I want to finish reading Unleash The Warrior Within and start and finish Linchpin by Seth Godin
Did you have success with your May goals? Do you set monthly mini goals?

Love the herb garden. And that salsa garden… what a great idea. I told myself I was going to learn how to make some kick ass salsa this summer. Both my husband and I love it, but only buy the stuff in a jar kind. And Sadly, I have not planted an herb garden this year. But it is so nice to have fresh dried herbs in my bottles; especially basil. Yum! When the herbs are big enough…like basil, oregano, thyme… I cut them at the base of the stems, bind them with a rubber band, and hang them by the window to dry. When dried, I take the leaves off down the spine, crush, and pour in my little herb bottles.
BTW, sheets make really simple curtains. My mother used to do that for our bedroom window; find some cool prints and wha-la. Great mini goals you have.
The hubby and I just got back from out wonderful weekend trip and have decided we are going to make a 2 year time line marking what we need to do to move to the country. {2 years will be when my son graduates from High School}. I’ll keep you posted on the timeline project!

Hi Laura,

Yes, I´ve adopted the mini goals method too. Mini goals can be more specific and realistic than medium term goals. Once they´re supposed to get done in a short period of time when I reach them I get more motivated to go ahead. If I see results I can motivate myself, “pat in my own back” and say: “see… you can do it. It wasn´t that hard after all”
I think dieting needs mini goals as well, it´s more difficult to change eating habits established for years.
I wish I could do a traveling fund and keep it. I already spent the little I had saved for this year´s summer vacations paying off the car. Have to start over
All the best for June´s mini goals

I’ve been tempted to set goals but been reluctant because I would be terribly annoyed at myself if I didn’t acheieve them. I haven’t much confidence that I could complete any goals within a set time anyway. But I suppose that’s the point – to provide an insentive. Maybe I should start with just one small thing and see how it goes from there.
