Ever feel sorry for yourself? I do. Or should I say did. This week. And I’m trying to get over it starting today. I know how it started and I know why it started. It’s all down to my back/hip pain which isn’t getting any better.
One of the reasons I feel like downsizing so much is that I can hardly do housework at the moment and trying to keep inches of skirting board clean is too difficult, let alone the rest of the house. And I hate and I mean really hate relying on my husband to do it all. So instead of letting it get me down I took action and made another (third) doctors appointment. This time I won’t be fobbed off with ‘just take ibruprofen until it clears up’ I mean 4 months of taking these is not good is it?
And to keep it positive I have a simple to do list for the next 10 days:
Book boiler repair/serviceCharity shop depot drop offBuy duvet, pillows etc for son going to uniPack food box for son going to uniBuy and send 3 birthday cardsBook painter for outside of the house and loungeBook and pay for 4 new tyres daughters carEmpty shedGet 2 large prints framed (to do since 2007!)Arrange furniture pick upPlan for Lisbon trip (Yay)- Finish reading The Wealth Cure
Return library books- Take my iron x 10 (7)
Tidy all summer plant pots
Ok that should do it. Instead of focusing on what I can’t do, a list of things that I can do

Ummm, that’s quite a long list! Don’t over extend yourself! I had to laugh that you still have something on your list from 4 years ago, tee hee. I carry forward to do items also. I make a daily list and whatever I don’t get done gets put on the next day’s list but I can say I’ve ever had a 4 yr. old item before!

I know all too well what you are going through. I still have neck and shoulder pain. I haven’t felt GREAT in a really, really long time. I’ve been to so many doctors and have taken so much medication, that it’s ridiculous. Just keep after the doctor, don’t let them give up. I’m still trying!
I’m very close to hiring back my cleaning lady. I just can’t do it all anymore. My husband works long hours, and he’s tired on the weekends. After the lawn work, there’s not much energy left. So………………
Downsizing actually sounds great…I picture a small Cape Cod home with four rooms……

Sharon. A four room Cape Cod home sounds perfect. In fact it would be totally perfect. When are we moving there??

Good on you for going back to the doctor, sounds like a specialist referral may be needed as the next step to get to the cause of the symptoms instead of masking the pain….

Thanks littlegreenvillage.
At first I thought it was my sciatica, but now it feels more hip, not back, related. Hopefully I willl get a referral.

Hi Laura, I do feel for you, that ongoing pain sounds really sore.
I just read your downsizing post. We downsized a couple of years ago and it was the best thing we ever did. We’ve only got 1 bedroom in our cottage but our sofa bed is put to good use for guests. Our living space is good however, with a lounge, dining area, kitchen and conservatory. We also have a pretty back garden and a small piece of land beyond where we grow our veggies, which looks onto fields.
Compared to our previous property our housework takes no time at all!

Hi sft and thank you!
Your house set up sounds perfect. I always think downstairs/living area space is more important than bedrooms.
