Before mortgage pay off goals, hubby and I always used to go out for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It was really nice after a week at work to relax, read a paper and get some food. The trouble was, with coffee, it was costing £10+ a week. Nowadays we have the date at home.

We set the table really nicely, and I make us something to eat. I try to make something different every week. We no longer read the paper, we just sit and talk while eating our food and drinking our coffee. It’s just as nice as going out, if not better and it’s much cheaper.

I now do that same thing with friends in my back yard. I have a couple of chair and make some waffles before reading the Times (NY, that is)

I would like to come to yours for breakfast!!!! That looks as good, if not better, than the cafe alternative.

What a lovely (and frugal!) way to connect with the hubby! We’ve cut out on all the eating out too! We really don’t miss it. Take care!

thank you all…breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and it’s fun experimenting with different things.

alice…i’d love to take credit for the photo, but alas it’s not mine :)

Sunday breakfast used to be a big thing in our house before I got ill – we’d all gather round the table and eat a typical Norwegian ‘good’ breakfast. We’d chat, laugh and plan the day ahead together. Good times :)

Nowadays, with just my daughter at home and working odd shifts, she’s rarely up and about for Sunday breakfast anymore so breakfast sharing has become something we do special when we’re on holiday. No doubt that’ll disappear soon too, though.

Hi Laura.
Sunday mornings we sleep, lol. Our breakfast is lunch.
We never go out, we save a lot doing this.
I have a little gift for you in Mycountryhome blog. A good weekend. xx

This is a lovely idea. I have a table that will be perfect in my garden and I long to eat breakfast out there one morning. Haven’t found the perfect morning yet, though! It’s now become quite chilly, and in the summer is way too hot!

BTW, Frugal Babe mentioned this post yesterday so I followed her link to have a look.
