Good afternoon! I just wanted to do a little catch up with things that are happening around here lately.
In the garden. Not to be beaten by my lack of gardening skills I’m trying my hand at growing a few lettuce seeds. I’ve planted some organic cos lettuce, spinach and rocket in the hope that they will grow, grow, grow and save me buying any salad leaves for the rest of the summer!
Grocery spending. I’m on another mission to try and reduce this. My spending averages out at roughly £270 a month, however my price book is sadly neglected of late and I need to get back to using it. It still amazes me how the little costs add up. For example, just the simple act of buying eggs from the farm shop saves us £40 a year on one food item; imagine if I applied this to everything I buy. (I am still menu planning every week and I know not doing this would increase our spending and food waste even more)
Portugal. Hubby has one more exam to complete to finish off his GCSE and then lessons will take a break until September. We are however considering a trip to Lisbon in the next few weeks which will give him plenty of opportunity to practise his language skills and enable us to reconnect with Portugal.
Income. I know that I said I wouldn’t, but I have started to look for a part time job. I really want to step up the momentum with our financial goals, and this will help us to do this. I’ve also reworked the budget to enable us to reach our targets quicker.
I still have a massive house to do list, and lots of other projects that I’m working on, (perhaps too many), but my main priority at the moment is reducing our expenses and increasing our income……everything else is on the back burner for now.

I have been casually looking for a second job. Whether it’s a night job or a weekend job, to help bulk up our savings. We shall see. Good luck on your job search.
