I’m not sure of my plans for 2010 yet, but I do know that I need to make time for reading; I’m not quite sure when I stopped reading,  but along the way I have!

There are so many books that I haven’t read, well millions really, but for now I’m setting on a small list of eight for 2010.

  1. Mrs Dalloway – Virginia Woolf
  2. The Sun Also Rises – Ernest Hemmingway
  3. The Great Gatsby – F Scott Fitzgerald reading
  4. Atonement – Ian McEwan  loved
  5. David Copperfield – Charles Dickens
  6. Her Fearful Symmetry – Audrey Niffenegger   didn’t make it through
  7. My Sisters Keeper – Jodi Picoult  not for me
  8. Twilight – Stephenie Meyer read this and the other three, totally absorbed

I would love any other suggestions. Have you read all of the above, if so which is your favourite?

Great idea! My Sisters Keeper is a good one. I always tout The Five People You Meet in Heaven – Mitch Albom as a must read for anyone… Atonement was a good read as well! Come over to the blog and catch up with our book club read which we do every few months!

the great gatsby is WONDERFUL. i recommend setting some time a side to read a chunk to begin with – i started it a few times but got distracted, because i find fitzgeralds way of writing a bit hard to get into. once i was a few chapters in though i was hooked and couldn’t put it down. i defy you not to fall a little bit in love with jay…

i want to read “her fearful symmetry” too. so far on my list for 2010 i have “the jersey literary and potato peel society”, “one day”, “shirley”, two lee child books (christmas gift) and “tender is the night” (also by fitzgerald…)

happy 2010, here’s to a literary dream of a year! xx

Great list! I loved My Sister’s Keeper, Her Fearful Symmetry was good but gave me the creeps at the same time and don’t even start me on Twilight – I am hopelessly addicted. I am also planning on reading Mrs Dalloway. I love Virginia but can only seem to manage one per year (2009 was the turn of A Room of One’s Own – brilliant). Happy New Year!

I’ve only read Atonement from your list but really enjoyed it. Looks like a great list though. I’m going to try to keep a list of books I read in 2010. I’d be interested to see how many I get through in a year as I’ve really no idea.

Good wishes for 2010 and beyond. :-)

I am currently finishing off “Financial Reckoning Day” by William Bonner. A wonderful read (although it might not sound it!). I never forgo the opportunity to plug Paul Stines book “Is the American Dream Killing You”. OK so those titles might not sound like they have much Christmas or New Year cheer about them, but they do help understand why things are the way they are and how to avoid getting caught up in some bad monetary habits.

Hey Kristina,
I know I’m w-a-a-a-a-y late to this party, but I just read your post. I have read seven of the nine books on your list and loved them all! I’m going to rush to the library and get the other two! You’ve given me goosebumps! If you see this e-mail, please reply and fill me in of what you’ve loved so far this year!
