August Grocery Challenge – Update 2

August 23, 2008

in frugal living

So far not so good. My total spending is £183.37, and with a budget of £180 and nine days still to go, it’s not looking good.

-We did quite a big shop when we got home on Tuesday, £57.05, as I needed to replenish the freezer. The door had been left open slightly and the food was all soft. (The fridge freezer door was about the only thing I didn’t leave a post it reminder on for my daughter while we were away, it needs to be closed quite firmly)

-We also spent another £28.82 stockpiling Nouvelle recycled toilet paper from Somerfield, eleven packets of 12 rolls, working out at under 22p per roll. (This is not a bogof offer as my mum suggested before my holiday, it’s a half price offer.)

I will only need to buy milk, bread, fruit and pack up items over the next few days as I have enough food in the freezer for the main meals, so I’m estimating an overspend of £35 for August.

August Grocery Spending:
£183.37/£180.00
