August 2011 Mini Goals

August 2, 2011

in goals

Before I move onto my mini goals for August, a recap of July’s performance.

July’s goals;

  • Drink 1.5 litres of water every day – Nearly completed
  • Lose 3lbs – Lost 1lb (better than nothing right?)
  • Finish de-cluttering our financial accounts – As much done as possible for now
  • Make at least £400 in side income – Check!
  • Keep the food bill under £250 (ongoing goal) – Check!

I was so much better with my water drinking in July. I didn’t quite manage 1.5 litres everyday but I always managed over a litre.  Progress.  The 1lb weight loss is also progress because even though it’s only a pound it’s a consistent pound…..meaning it’s stayed off :)

We’re as far as we can be with consolidating our accounts at the moment.  We’re in the process of moving to joint credit cards (for hubbies work expenses and major purchase buying) but I can’t close my Amex account until the cashback has been paid…..don’t want to be losing the money!

I had another great month for side income and this has boosted our moving abroad fund which, I’ll update on later in the week.

And finally the food bill.  I just scraped in under budget spending £245.53.

Onto my goals for August:

  1. Read the first Harry Potter book and one other book
  2. Drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day
  3. Lose at least 3lbs
  4. Keep grocery spending below £250
  5. Make a least £300 in side income
  6. Complete a 7 day Fiscal Fast
  7. Keep miscellaneous items spending below £100 (no eating out!)
  8. Scan at least 20 more items of paper work

Caroline and I have both pledged to read the first HP book in August as neither of us has ever read it.  I’ve borrowed it from the library and plan on reading it all this week.

Going for 8 out of 8 this month!  What about you, are you setting any mini goals for August?

You did wonderful in July! Good luck with your August goals!! I’ve seen all the HP movies but never read any books… I may have to rectify that one day! ;) I need to post some goals for August, but that will be tomorrow’s post!

I’ve not seen a movie either, perhaps after reading the book I may want to?!

Oh Lordy, I’ve got sidetracked by The Midwife’s Confession, which I can’t put down. Promise to get to HP by the end of this week!

I’ll be doing my fiscal fast next week, want to join me?

I think you did great on your July goals…August should be good too! I hear the first book of Harry Potter is a quick read, although I’ve never read it. We have the whole series of books…but have never been interested…

Water drinking is healthy…I’ll have to start doing that too!

The Harry Potter goal will be easy … once you start that book, it’s impossible to put it down!

Congrats on all your side income, and on losing one consistent pound … one consistent pound is much better than three inconsistent pounds that would just come back.

I have to admit, I was so excited when you said read a HP book. I’m a complete Harry Potter fanatic! The books are wonderful… to think the author created this whole other world from scratch. Very creative & fun to read. I started reading them when I was in 7th or 8th grade and grew up with them (I’m 24 now). The books are much better than the movies, but the final movie definitely did it justice.
