A New Project

April 21, 2010

in simple living

Sometimes while surfing the net I’ll be reading an article or a post and I’ll think yes, what a great idea; exactly what happened when I read this over at Peace and Projects: 80 Day Project: Easy Steps To Write Your Own Life

Melissa, the writer, was craving movement [in life] and wanted to say stop, and make peaceful changes

 ”to our routines that aren’t working. To the way we’ve “always” done things. To the way people expect us to do things”

I think we could all do this. I know I definitely could.

I’ve taken the first step in writing my own life by quitting the 8 to 8, but since doing that I’ve come to a standstill. I’m drifting, and I’m not a drifter. I’m still stuck in some familiar routines and some parts of family life are still crazy. I want it to change.

So starting tomorrow I’m beginning my own 80 day project {22nd April – 10th July}, which takes me up to our family trip to Portugal and in those 80 days I will {peacefully} work on the following;

  • routines that don’t work
  • family time
  • date nights
  • simple health
  • being spontanious
  • creating new routines
  • where I sit with going back to work, or not {the big one!}
  • simple food

I love the 80 day element, not too long, not too short, and you can go around the world in 80 days, so this should be easy :-)

Love the new look/banner!

Since my family has come back from Maui, I have really tried to keep the spontenaity/low key – relaxed mode going. Stop taking my work schedule so rigorous…as long as I put in my 8 hours, I am good. But doesn’t quite demand me to be here exactly at 7:30am to x:xxpm.
Be more pleasurable…stop to talk to people without any sign of being in a hurry.

And its really been enjoyable. Now I am working on moving to the beat of my own groove. Finding ways to stop my 730 to 400. :)

Wishing much success to your new project(s).

Thank you Rachel, the timing is key, we’re about to enter GCSE stress in our house, so I really want to keep the household as chilled out as possible :-)
