Achieving what you set out to do in 2010

in goals

It never fails to amaze me how quickly we seem to move from summer t-shirts to winter coats, and then, before you know it, we’re into a new year.

With that in mind, as we enter the last quarter of 2010, it’s time to start looking at what you’ve achieved so far and what you still want to accomplish.

There may be items on your to do list from January that you no longer wish to do, if so let them go, or, there may be something that you really, really wanted to make happen and it just hasn’t, whatever it is, there is still enough time left to get it done.

You have 87 days to, open that savings account, make your own bread {hum, hum}, lose some weight, start a new blog or run that £5k.

Look back on your 2010 list and pick something that you still haven’t accomplished that you know, you’ll be mad about when you toast in the New Year; this tactic always works for me!

So let me know, what’s your thing?

Interesting. I hadn’t been planning to look until until close of play, but you’ve got me thinking now. I got most of the items crossed off. Whether I will get my weight down to target will be touch and go, but 11 pounds have come off so far. The big miss was my trip to New York that didn’t happen – the costs of hotels in NY just horrified me. Pretty happy with progress so far, but will have to look again at the end of the year. And there’s really only 87 days left? OMG! :)

Tony: yes, I’ve noticed that the prices had gone up somewhat, did you look through Expedia etc or somewhere else?

My MUST DO off list is to get my Driver’s Learner’s Permit and start having driving lessons! I know this is the key to my self – esteem/ freedom/future employment dreams ~ (would like to obtain Marriage Celebrant Cert/ & start own one on one ‘English on the Go’ business where I teach older students in their own homes). Need to ‘just do it,’ instead of procrastinating over it!
P.S. Submit Short Stories/Poetry to writing competitions!
That’s all :)

Good reminder, thank you!
On the list of things to do, was to validate my merits and degrees (different unis, countries and mostly old). If and when I want to go back to university again, it should all be ready. Copies taken and signed and sent off yesterday! (puh!) Thanks to you! :)
(I list things of things I want to have done. But I don’t decide when as that doesn’t work with my lifestyle.)

Maria: no problem, I’m glad that I motivated you; it sounds like an arduous task! :-)

Laura: Expedia and a few other sites. When 3 star hotels started quoting $495 dollar a night – per person – I thought nah, not going to happen! For $495 I could stay in a luxury apartment in Bangkok for a *month*, even with the current crappy exchange rate. I did manage to find some flights for about £500 each (with Virgin), which was better than the £1000+ per person I’d been quoted. We’re rethinking, we both wanted to go to New York, but we’re now thinking possibly photography in Tuscany or France, which would be much cheaper (and we could get a longer break for less money).

Tony have you thought of hostelling in NYC? Many years ago when i went to NYC for a week I stayed in a hostel and it was fine, if you just want a safe clean room for the night on a budget they can be a great way to travel., some hostels even do private rooms these days. DH and I are thinking of spending some time going hostelling when we go to north cal.

Here is the link to the directory of hostels in USA:-

Dreamer, thanks so much for that – I hadn’t really considered that. I’ll check out the website, thanks again!
