If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know that I went for a job interview last week; I didn’t get the job. That’s right, a job paying minimum wage, approximately 65% less than I earned before and I didn’t get it; talk about a wake up call.
Now I may have been over qualified {I hope that doesn’t make me sound like an ass}, I may have been too old for them, I was interviewed by very young people, I may have answered the questions the wrong way, I may….. I may have been obviously wasn’t what they were looking for, and I’m alright with that. Why? Because I’ve realised that I don’t want to go back to the 8 to 8 or even the 9-5. I want to work for myself. I want to control what I do every day.
Now comes the hard part. What to do?

Probably the best thing that could have happened. I’m sure you’ll get a great little biz going, and have fun with it. Will be interesting to see what you end up doing.

Like everybody says above, it was probably for the best, Laura. Mmmm, what to do? It’s an interesting one, isn’t it? Always the idea that’s the hard part, never the execution. I will watch this space with interest. Good luck x

Hi Laura,
I missed the tweet. Just curious, but what was the job you were applying for?

Hi there,
I do freelance writing online for Demand Studios – you will find they get a very mixed press but I enjoy it and make a significant amount of money doing it. It is very factual writing so not at all creative but as I have an IT background I find the articles very easy to write.
Maybe worth a look?
Best wishes

I can’t wait to hear what you come up with! Plus you might end up with the potential to earn more than in that job. I had to take a big paycut and it WAS NOT FUN. I’m now on maternity leave and am officially not thinking about it until next year!
