A feel good week

January 23, 2012

in getting healthy

I don’t have a lot going on this week and M. is away working until late on Thursday night, so to keep myself busy (and focused), I’m going to have a feel good week.  A few days of increased concentration on my health, body and well being.  My diet is going quite well, but other things, like my sleep patterns, are a little by the wayside.

I’ve set myself a little health & beauty plan for the week, which includes going to bed at 10.30pm every night. For me this is early, so we shall see how it goes!

I’m taking part in Carla’s ‘No (Low) Spend Challenge’ at the moment, so there can be no spending on any extra products this week. I’ll just be using anything that I already have….it’s amazing what you can find when you start searching your bathroom cabinets!

The plan:

  • Eat at least 5 a day
  • Eat 1500 calories a day
  • Drink 6 glasses of water every day (1.5L)
  • Log all my calories on Livestrong
  • Walk x 5 days
  • Take iron tablets x 4
  • Scrub and moisturise full body x 3
  • Home pedicure my feet
  • Go to bed at 10.30pm (lights out)
  • Get up at 6am every day (regular time)

Okay now to print the list.

I’d love to know if you’ve struggled with sleep patterns in the past? And if so, how you managed to overcome the issues.

I’d love it if you wanted to join me in a feel good week :)

Enjoy your feel good week!
I take medication that makes it hard for me to get to sleep until at least midnight, and always feel like a zombie in the morning. I’m a night owl anyway but the tablets make it worse. I can achieve so much more at night than early in the morning though!

My problem is that I can easily survive on 5 hours, but I’m not so sure that’s any good for me in the long run. – now I’m much better in the morning than the evening…but only after coffee!!

Love this. You really can treat yourself without spending money.

Funny, my husband is away this week and am doing something similar. Want to get lots of sleep, eat well and start an immune boosting regime (recovering from nasty flu). I like have little challenges or a focus when I am on my own. Seems to make the time more enjoyable.

I always feel a little isolated when hubby is away so setting myself fun challenge is definitely a good way to pass the time. Sorry that you’ve had the flu Rachel.

My sleep routine is not the greatest… hubby works midnights so most nights I’m not in bed until at least midnight. I usually listen to a devotional as I go to sleep and it hels me wind down. Then I’m up whenever the Gris come bounding into my bedroom! lol!

There’s no chance of my teenager daughter ever being up before me Carla – so I’m undisturbed in bed in the morning but I wake around six every day. When hubby is away I tend to go to bed too late and it has to stop because it makes me grumpy!

My sleep schedule is horrible. It varies everyday by a lot! I need to change that.

A sleep routine is something that I wish I’d established when I was younger Michelle – my sleep patterns vary so much too and it makes me tired.

I have so-so sleep patterns. I’ll go through long stretches where I get to bed at a reasonable hour and sleep well, and then will have a bumpy patch where I wake up during the night and can’t fall back asleep. I’m in one of the bumpy patches now – ugh. I also have to get up early during the week to get my kids up for school – I am NOT a morning person at all so feel tired all day and don’t feel like I’m at my best. When I can wake up “naturally” I am full of energy all day!

Your week sounds lovely. I’m hoping to get in 5 days of walks as well, but we’ll have to see if the weather cooperates.

Love your Body Shop products!

Hi Laura – I am a morning person but also one of those people that will stay up too late as well – my sleep was horribly disturbed by the bursitis last year – did you have the same problem? – the pain would keep me awake and I found it really hard to get comfortable.
We have the same issue with the weather here – one minute it’s lovely, the next wind and rain!

Body shop coconut body butter is my all time favourite beauty product…it smells like ‘holidays’!

Not too much disturbs my sleep except waking up to pee as a result of all of this extra water I’m drinking while on the 10 Pound Challenge lol! That wasn’t always the case however, there was a time I used to wake up every morning at 4am filled with dread and anxiety (work-related but exacerbated by menopause) so the doctor put me on the lowest dose of cipralex and I’ve never had a problem since. Damn I hate getting old!

I’m the same Jane – I have to drink all my water before 2pm or I’m up at least twice in the night – getting old sucks lol!!
I’m glad that you’re sleeping much better now – I can totally relate to work issues affecting your sleep.

I love this post- we are in exactly the same place right now.. Same goals and everything. I can also recommend dry skin brushing too…quite delicious.

Great minds – I don’t have a body brush, perhaps it should go on my birthday list.

I normally sleep like a log, but the last few nights I have been having a restless sleep, no idea why?

1500 calories a day – ack! I would never survive; I would just be thinking about food all day.
