hmmm, I make my own cleaning products out of baking soda, vinegar and essential oils. Maybe more than that though – I made my own deodorant.
Making things from scratch is my favourite. It’s so fun to make something for 1/3rd or less of what it’d cost to buy!
My favourite frugal practice is to make all my own (and my son and husband’s) packed lunches (even down to baking the cakes and biscuits) and to not buy pre-packed or cafe food.
It’s 900+ pages??? Everyone tells me it’ll be a good book to make habit of. And since you’re doing a giveaway… I’ll give it try. If I don’t win, then I’ll pick it up…find someone let me borrow their copy for a long time {#catfight} ; )

I raised my son with the jar system of dividing up his cash – short term (instant gratification purchases), mid term (had to wait at least a month), long term (substantial purchases: college, car etc), charity and gifts. It worked well until he got older and started using credit cards.
I use the same method of saving cash, substituting the jars with envelopes. It works well for me.

Well, I’m not currently very good at being frugal, which is why I need this book!
I’ve been trying to be more mindful of the things I spend money on recently – when I pick something up I ask myself whether I really do need it, and if it will improve my life in some way. Sounds obvious I know, but I’ve spent so much money on impulse buys and things I think will cheer me up.
I make my own laundry soap using; grated olive oil soap, borax and washing soda. Add 1 tablespoon to the wash and my clothes come out clean every time.

I use towels instead of papertowels. And I reuse aluminum foil.
I do … all the obvious stuff. Cloth products instead of paper, keep the heat low, use the library. I want to up my game which is why I’d love this book — I want more ideas!

I hang everything to dry, either outside on the line or inside on a rod installed in the family room. I also have drying racks for underclothes. No dryer use. Only wash in cold water. I have even gotten my husband to pretreat any stains, so less need to buy new clothes.
Stock up on consumables. By having stuff on hand, you can wait until you find a real bargain to buy more instead of having to run out every few days and pay whatever the current prices may be. A stocked pantry means you can buy most everything on sale from now on.
I convinced my husband to stop going to the hairdresser and to let me cut his hair – especially after we did the math and realized that it would save us about $600 a year. Also, we’re total food and wine lovers, so as much as I love to cook, we love dining out. We’ve made it sort of a rule that we’re only allowed to by food once a day – like if we know we’re going out to dinner that night, we can’t get lazy and pick up lunch as well.
It´s difficult to pick just one frugal practice as I´m trying to apply as many as I can in different categories: food, entertainment, hairdresser, clothes, etc. Even saving on small things became fun: free ketchup & free sugar packets.
I´m happy with my wardrobe reduction and the choice of not buying new clothes. It´s making my life a lot simpler (save washing, energy, time, ironing, etc).
I was very lucky to have won your last giveaway and I´m grateful I did because that book was really inspiring and helpful to my PF journey.
