This organising projects follows on from the previous post about incoming paperwork and so is a little different to normal.
How many paper bills do you receive each month? Can you go paper free with these companies and reduce the amount of paperwork entering your home?
To start:
- Make one list of all the companies you pay, every month or every year
Organise:
- Now separate these companies into three further lists
- 1# Bills paid online and already paper free
- 2# Bills paid online for which you receive a paper bill
- 3# Bills paid in person for which you receive a paper bill
De-Clutter:
- Now go through list 2# and 3# to see which companies offer a paper free service
- Sign up for the paper free service and automate all your payments
The benefits of going paper free are two fold, it’s better for the environment and it can also save you money, some companies will offer a discount if you pay your bill online.
Going paper free with British Telecom currently saves you £14.76 a year. Pay by Direct Debit with EON and you save 6%-8% off your bill every year. Some counties even offer paper free billing for your council tax.
How did you do? Can you reduce the paper?

Brilliant post. Going paper free has been a journey for me. I quite like paper copies…
I’d love to be more free of paper, but copies of everything are required for the taxman if you’re self-employed. Hey ho!
