What do you consider the minimum amount of bedlinen for each bed? Do you have one, two, three or even more sets for each ? Some sites will recommend three, one on the bed, one in the wash and one spare, however to keep our possessions to a minimum I only keep two sets for each bed.
To start:
- Gather all your linen together in one place
- Fold neatly and sort into piles – single, double, king, sheets, pillowcases etc
- Clean out and dust your airing/linen cupboard or blanket box
De-clutter:
- Now edit and decide how many of each item you want to keep, you may just keep matching sets
- Decide if you can donate any unwanted items or use them for the cleaning*
Organise:
- Now put everything back into your cupboard/box neatly folded in piles, or for ease you can keep each set of bedlinen folded inside a pillowcase
*Items can also be recycled at the local recycling centre
That’s it! Did I miss anything?

Oh, this is a good one, Laura. My airing cupboard has been needing a clear out for a while now. So that’s on my list for later today. Will report back once it’s done – Caroline x

Hi Laura
I had a serious sort out when taking bedlinen to the other house back in the summer but you have prompted me to have another look as I do tend to keep more set than i need. I still havnt done the cutlery drawer but its getting closer!

Hi Laura,
I really need to do this, I’ve been buying new linen in the last year to replace the old stuff – which is still in the cupboard!!
A job for this week I think

I’ve got various mismatched sets sitting around. The frugal side of me is loathe to get rid of them, but I never use them cause it’s only a fitted sheet or only the flat sheet. Ack!
