in simplifying & reducing

The idea for this weeks simple project came from this post over at Shoestring Alley. Shoestring  de-cluttered her bathroom and found all sorts of products and made a ‘free home spa’.

If you have a bathroom cabinet or cupboard it’s amazing what products seem to end up in there. When I completed this task earlier in the year, I had half empty bottles of conditioner, half used body scrubs all left there by my daughters.

To start:

  1. Empty the cupboard of all its contents
  2. Wash and clean the cupboard

De-Clutter:

  1. Assess every item one at a time
  2. What do you need to keep? Any really old unusable products, dispose of safely
  3. Half used products;  put them in the shower or by the bath to use up

Organise:

  1. Put everything you’re keeping back in the cupboard, grouped together

What did you find? Have you simplified your product usage?

I do this about once a month – even though I am no longer buying any products except cleanser and moisturiser as I use them up, I still have to keep revisiting what I have (its so much) to see if there is anything I can let go or use – sometimes its seasonal- like right now I am pulling out foot related products :)
