52 Simple Organising Projects: A Kitchen Cupboard

January 25, 2009

in less is more

As you can see from the picture I’m using a kitchen cupboard with cups and glasses in as an example, but you can do any kitchen cupboard you like, you could perhaps even do two cupboards in the hour given.

To start:

  • Empty out the cupboard
  • Thoroughly clean the cupboard shelves, sides and doors

De Clutter:

  • Assess what you have and group into matching items
  • Check all items for chips etc and remove anything that’s broken
  • Remember, less is more – How many cups or glasses do you really need?

Organise:

  • Put items back into the clean cupboard
  • Group all matching items together, putting the most used on the bottom shelf

That’s it, a nicely organised, easy to grab a cup, kitchen cupboard.

Do you like my drama queen and toy boy mugs? My mum’s idea of funny birthday presents, for obvious reasons!

Hello Laura
I love your comment that Less is More and how many cups etc do you need
This is a goodone as going by my cupboards it looks like I need a clean cup every time I have a hot drink – there are lots in there. lol

The trouble is its finding somewhere (visible) to store them until family stop by
Take care
Cathy

Less is more is great advice and not just for cupboards! I was once told that after dressing up for a night out check yourself in the mirror and take one thing off. I think this applies to accessories but it works!(anything else could be a bit chilly! lol) Off to get rid of a few mugs!

Hello Laura.
I wish my cupboard could be organized like yours but…what do I do with the dozens of cups that I have which were offered as Christmas and birthday fun gifts by family members, and not only moms :)
Your mom is a bit like ours, lol, so every trip or party they do gess what we always get as souvenirs…
xx
