2012 Goals: How am I doing?

I’m already thinking about next year and what goals to set. Should I set a lot? Should I go with a couple of BIG goals and then have a kinda to do list similar to this year? Hmmm. Something to ponder as I try and complete (or not!), everything on this years list.Oxford Street, London November 2012

**My blogging at Move to Portugal has been a little hit and miss this year. To be honest I’ve been struggling to find a direction to go in as (so) much of our financial stuff is talked about on my other site, and I don’t want to repeat the information. Right now I’m thinking this place needs to just be about goal chasing – in particular how I’m progressing with my life list.  The possibility of achieving everything, or nearly everything, on my life list brings me joy, and that seems as good a reason as any to write a blog.

How are you doing with your 2012 goals? Any major successes?

    Some great progress there Laura!

I think I need to create some very specific goals for 2013. 2012 has been drifting a little too much for my liking. I think after paying off my mortgage I lost a bit of focus and direction. In 2013 I need to get back on track. Health has to be the biggie for me in 2013, and just somehow surviving one more year of work before I escape job jail in 2014.

Good luck with your goals in 2013!

Hi Tony, sorry you’ve been feeling so bad – hopefully you’ll get back on track in 2013.

I can understand why you drifted a little in 2012 – having a debt amount to attack provides motivation.

One more full year – you CAN do it it!

    Hi Laura
Some great achievements there, like most of us, you seem to need to work on your health :) I know I sure do!!

I think the idea of using this blog for goals etc sounds a really great idea. As you say, you cover a lot of the financial aspects on your other blog so using this one for goals etc would give you a great focus here.

I’m a bit like Tony above, I’ve drifted a bit this year, changed the way I save (instead of focussing on separate ‘accounts’ I’ve just saved a general amount which has worked okay for me) but I hope to be more focussed in other areas in 2013.

    Cheers Judy

…if I could attack my weight like my old credit card debt I’d be at target before I knew it! Anyway, I’ll keep trying :)

I’d love to know you’re other site too :)
I love your goal lists – they always inspire me to get off my butt and get something achieved (even if, at the moment, the thing I need to do is sit on my butt and get rid of this pesky cold that is hanging around!!)

      Sent you an email Clare.

I’m working on my 2013 goals list right now – I was thinking of keeping it short, but that hasn’t happened! :)

You have inspired me to add a book list to my 2013 goals! I love to read and writing things down as you have will make me more aware of my goal and hopefully spend more time on it.

Thank you for your blog. It always inspires :)

      Hi Marie and thank you!

I love keeping a record of everything as it keeps me focused. Let me know what books you add to your list in 2013 :)

The pressure is on now, lol. I have a few books already on my list and inevitably read Gift from the Sea at least once a year. It is my all time favorite book and the only book I never pass on. If I want to pass it on, I buy another copy for as a gift. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. It is a book of life and simplicity. I will keep you updated and if you have any recommendations please pass them my way!

Without sounding boring or repeating what has gone before…what other blog??
You have made wonderful progress with your goals even if some have not been as successful as others. I would certainly celebrate your achievements – I would be proud of myself if this were my list!
I have been feeling quite miserable of late due to having work pressures, financial pressures, house maintenance pressures and now getting sorted in time for Christmas pressures but I always look forward to sitting down for half an hour and browsing my favourite blogs for an update. You are always a source of inspiration and help keep me motivated to focus on my own goals. A big WELL DONE done from me! :)

Hi sent you an email :)
Thank you for your lovely comment – I tend to focus on what I haven’t achieved, instead of what I have.
I feel for you this time of year can be so stressful – I hope you get a little break from all the pressures soon :)

    Hi Laura,
My 2012 goals will be a list uncompleted. It has been a hectic year for our family, but at least having the goals game me something to strive for. I am looking forward to compiling a list for 2013. Financially we are very close to eliminating consumer debt. :)
Both of your blogs inspire me and I shamelessly “borrow” many of your formats to map out my own success. You are that inspiring to me!
I can’t wait to see how you incorporate your life list into this blog. More inspiration for the rest of us.
