I’m being a little bit more specific with my goals for 2011 as my brain was a little fried last year and I just put a few random thoughts out there.
A {quick} 2010 recap: I’m reading again. I’ve lost weight {31.5lbs} and I’m eating a whole lot better food. My house is de-cluttered and I’m using a cash budget. I’ve been to Vancouver, Paris and Cascais and I’ve spent lots of quality time with my family…no more stress and shouting because of my job. All in all a very good year.
So on to my goals for 2011;
Money:
- Continue to save, save, save with focus on the mortgage, moving abroad, travel and our house. Continue to work towards 50% saving rate {currently 37%}
- Continue to use a cash budget system
- Continue to meal plan every week
- Stick to our budget 100% with no unnecessary, unconscious spending
House:
- Totally complete all repairs and decorating
- Learn about renting out your house…legals, tax etc
Personal:
- Lose 30lbs
- Continue to work with doctor to eliminate my iron deficiency
- Teach myself to sew {better}
- Reduce waste bin to 25% full every fortnight {currently 50%}
- Keep everything simple and organised
- Go to the Design Museum and the Tate in London
- Have a spa day with eldest daughter {graduation celebration}
Ok, that’s enough I think! Are you setting goals/resolutions for 2011?

Great goals – love how you break them up too (I am more of the mish-mash list approach…usually with a similarly hit and miss success rate :p)
Good luck for achieving all these and more in 2011! xx

Hi Judy, Thank you. The one thing that made the difference this year was joining Livestrong and recording my daily food/calorie intake. It cost £30 approx (for 12 months) and somehow spending that money really kicked me into action

All the best for your goals!

I think I’ve gained weight in 2010..I don’t even want to look but my clothes and mirror tell me so.
I love your goals. I usually make new yearly goals this time of year as I have the week off from work but this year I’m avoiding them for some reason. I haven’t figured out why. Maybe I’m sticking my head in the sand but I don’t know why.
Nonetheless, I love your list. My long standing goals typically always involve: Traveling to 1 new place that I’ve never been, Learning one new thing that I’ve never done before. Now with kids, I have goals for them too (learn to swim, etc).

oh yes am making plans…. mine are so far quite random and fun. I may need to hone down and get gritty with them as well as this year I need to work and get income, more than last year. But at the same time, I am not going to do un fun stuff….. hard balancing act!

Awesome goals, Laura. You’ll reach them no doubt. I need to post my own defined goals.
Yesterday I was watching House Hunter’s International on HGTV, where a lady bought a renovated property in Tomac (about an hour from Lisbon, i think). And when I saw it, I thought of you and your husband taking the same trek to the countryside. I no doubt, see you taking that track with your solid planning and making excellent effort to reach those steps that will lead to your move. Trek on, Laura. (and fabulous job on the weight loss!)

Laura, well done on everything you achieved in 2010!
My ‘goals’ are habits I am rolling over from last year, I must just stick at them. I am also making a concious decision to be bored less this year. There is just no excuse for it in such a vibrant world.

Love the foto of my birth city. At present I have small goals. I am working on my post cards(using my photography and craft ideas). Like you, i am thinking of moving back to Portugal in 4/5 years time for 6 months every year. I have a condo in Caldas da Rainha. Not far from Lisbon. Close to lovely beaches and great agricultural markets. I admire your dedication to move to Portugal. Good for you.
Keep on posting your acomplishments. I like reading them. Have a nice day. Idalina
