Good afternoon, I hope that you’re having a great weekend so far; here are just some of the articles I’ve been reading this week; Decluttering the things I thought I wanted.. at 80 20 Time, a post I can identify with! The ideal Number of Credit Cards at Fiscal Fizzle, I think two, what do you think? [...]
Last week Voucher Mum asked me about my Price Book, after I mentioned it in this post: Frugal habits I’ve gained so far. I thought it would be a good idea to answer her question with a follow up post.
I first heard about Price Books when I read the Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn*. Basically Amy advocates saving money by keeping a list of all your most regularly bought grocery items; so that you can bulk buy them when they are on offer.
I’ve been playing around with the budgets [again] as I wanted to incorporate my new wage into the mix and whenever I do this I always seem to come back to the same thing: being mortgage free. Being totally mortgage free is definitely our biggest motivator, hubby included, always has been; there’s just something about owning your home {even if you might not be living in it!}
So if we go back to really targeting our mortgage debt, what do we need to do?
Your reaction to this post is going to go one way or another; you’ll love it or hate it, either way I’m going ahead with posting.
I had a conversation with a former work colleague/friend on the phone today. It was our normal type of call him was moaning about his life, about his work, about just about anything he could think up. I listened for so long until he made a snarky comment that went along the lines of ‘well it’s all right for you, you got out’. I took a breathe, kept calm, and simply asked him what was stopping him from doing that.
As you know I’ve been doing a lot of walking; me and my little pedometer trawling around the local area trying to get fitter; it quite happy because it gets carried, me not so!
Anyway last week while out and about I got to talking to somebody and he mentioned a part time job that was available in one of the local shops – how we got onto the subject of jobs I’ll never know, but before I knew it, I’d gone into said shop, filled in a form, had an interview and started working; yesterday I did my first shift.
