Frugal Trenches has spurred me and a few others into action. We’re taking part in a ‘Ten Days Towards Health Challenge’ and will be blogging our eating and excercise along the way. As you all know my eating sometimes leaves a little to be desired, cheese and onion crisps, cake, to name but a few of my naughty habits, but seriously, I’m very hopeful that this will kickstart a healthier lifestyle for me.
As I already have a (hardly used) getting healthy blog, I thought I’d use this for all the posts; please join me over there for the challenge: Simply Getting Healthy

This link isn’t working??
thank you, all fixed now
I’ll join in too – fits in well with my aims to eat better and exercise. I’m going to start on Monday though! Best of luck x
Can’t wait to see your results!!!
Well, I have been keeping a food diary for the past 3 months or so. This has helped me to lose about 1/2 the total amount of weight I really *need* to lose. I do count calories by reading the food labels or looking up items on calorieking.com or mindlesseating.org. The first month I gradually decreased my intake from a starting level of about 2000 calories to less than 1500, but it became obvious to me that is was not low enough. I am now averaging 1230kcal, but my biggest challenge is increasing my exercise. I do gardening, walk the dog and occasionally go to the gym, but from what I have read is that it generally takes an hour a day or more of exercise to keep the weight from coming back. Any ideas? I have a sedentary job and mostly sedentary hobbies like knitting or other crafts on the week ends.
